She won the Miss Madras title in 1999 after winning Miss Salem.

Her success history started from Saamy (2003) and Ghilli (2004) Tamil movies.
She got her first award South Filmfare Best Actress Award for her Telugu movie Varsham released in 2004.
Later she won too many awards in other regional languages too.
Abhiyum Naanum (2008) and Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa (2010) both Tamil movies was most acclaimed by age group fans and she was the winner of Vijay TV’s Favorite Herione award.
